Kamogawa Kyoden House
Kamogawa, Chiba 2008
Total Area: 95 m2, New Construction, Wood Frame, 1-Story Residence
A weekend house built on a site surrounded by rice fields, looking out
over a lake toward nearby mountains, the Kyoden House is several kilometers
inland from the Pacific coast on the Boso Peninsula.
With the large wooden sash fully opened (5.4m wide x 2.7m high), the interior of the main room and the two terraces become a continuous indoor / outdoor space -- unified with the surrounding nature. With breezes from the ricefields and the lake passing through all corners of the room, this 1-story dwelling is quite comfortable, with a rare feeling of openness.
