Nagoya International School (NIS) Science & Art Classrooms
Nagoya International School (NIS) Science & Art Classrooms Project
Nagoya, Aichi 2013
Total Area: New Construction, Steel Frame, 2 Stories 310m2 / Interior Work
NIS needed to expand and enhance their science and art programs, and to accomplish this the strategy was to take over the existing MS/HS art classroom and convert it into a new science classroom zone, then to construct a new building as an "art center" to house the MS/HS art classroom as well as the ES classroom, both in spaces substantially larger than their original locations. Due to the urgency of providing these facilities to improve the school's overall functionality, it was decided to use a prefabricated building system for the art center, so that the construction could be completed entirely within the summer vacation period, with no downtime in the NIS school calendar.
