Ginza Kikumasa Bldg (Starbucks Ginza)

Ginza Kikumasa Bldg (Starbucks Ginza)

Chuo-ku, Tokyo 1997

Total Area: 150m2, New Construction, Steel Frame, 2-Story
This new two-story building next to the Matsuya Ginza department store was the first Starbucks franchise coffee shop in Japan. DesignLINK carried out the design and construction supervision of this building.
In Ginza, where super-inflated site property values normally result in the development of multi-story out-lease buildings to maximize the buildable volume, it was decided to limit this new building to just two stories, in order to produce the first new Starbucks store with a clear new identity all its own; this entire building, this special location, is Starbucks, and only Starbucks.
